Roberto Carlos se despede do Real com título

O lateral brasileiro Roberto Carlos se despediu do Real Madrid com o título espanhol da temporada. Ele afirmou ter vivido 12 temporadas de muita alegria com a camisa do clube.
"Este é o título mais emocionante que conquistei aqui, pois foi muito difícil superar adversários como Barcelona e Sevilla. A torcida merece", disse o lateral que, assim como o inglês David Beckham, se despediu do time.

"As críticas nos momentos complicados fizeram a equipe se reerguer", completou o jogador, que defenderá na próxima temporada o Fenerbahce da Turquia, comandado pelo brasileiro Zico.

Medeiros comenta estar triste consigo mesmo

Thiago Medeiros não conseguiu garantir vaga no grid de largada em Interlagos por ter conquistado apenas o 42º tempo no treino classificatório. O estreante ficou feliz com o carro mais decepcionado consigo mesmo.

"Tínhamos carro para largar tranquilamente nesta corrida. Mas faltou um pouco de mim. Não consegui combinar os meus melhores trechos em uma volta só. Gostei muito do trabalho da RC3 Bassani e espero fazer um trabalho muito melhor para a próxima etapa”, comentou.

Equipe teve homenagens estampadas nos pára-brisas dos carros

O sábado (16) foi de homenagens na RC3 Bassani na disputa da 4ª etapa da Copa Nextel Stock Car, que está sendo realizada em Interlagos, São Paulo. A equipe contou com duas frases nos pára-brisas dos dois Peugeot 307 do time, pilotados por David Muffato (35) e Thiago Medeiros (50).

David Muffato deixa o 35



A etapa de Interlagos está sendo especial para David Muffato. Neste sábado ele abandonou de vez o numeral 35. O paranaense usa este número estampado nos seus carros de competição desde 1998. Ano passado ele adotou o numero 35 na idade. E neste dia 16 de junho de 2007 ele faz aniversário e deixa o 35 pela primeira vez para trás. Muffato tem no seu pára-brisa a seguinte frase: “Parabéns Muffato”. O campeão da Stock Car em 2003 deixa o 35 apenas na idade, continuando com o seu numeral estampando seus carros de competição.

Roberto Carlos deixa o Real Madrid

Thiago Medeiros homenageou hoje um dos sócios da equipe RC3 Bassani, o jogador do Real Madrid Roberto Carlos. Neste domingo (17) ele faz sua ultima partida pelo clube merengue contra o Mallorca no estádio Santiago Bernabéu. Basta o Real Madrid vencer para conquistar o 30º titulo nacional.

Roberto Carlos chegou ao Real Madrid em 1996 e tornou-se um dos mais vitoriosos jogadores do clube. Nestes mais de 10 anos pelo time, Roberto conquistou dois Mundiais de Clubes da Fifa, três ligas dos Campeões da Europa, uma Supercopa Européia, tricampeão espanhol (pode ser tetra neste domingo) e três Supercopas Espanhola. Roberto já anunciou sua transferência para o time turco do Fernebach, comandado pelo técnico brasileiro Zico.

A ultima e decisiva partida de Roberto Carlos acontece neste domingo (17) a partir das 16 horas pelo canal de assinaturas ESPN Internacional.

STOCK CAR V8: RC3 BASSANI LARGA EM 23º COM DAVID MUFFATO

Thiago Medeiros, que está estreando pelo time, não conseguiu garantir vaga no grid de largada


O paulista Antonio Jorge Neto marcou a pole position para a 4ª etapa da Copa Nextel Stock Car, que vai ser disputada em Interlagos, São Paulo. Foi o quarto piloto diferente a largar na frente em quatro provas disputadas. A equipe RC3 Bassani vai participar da etapa com David Muffato largando na 23ª colocação. Thiago Medeiros – que está estreando pelo time – marcou o 42º tempo e não vai participar da prova.

David Muffato lamentou ter encontrado Nonô Figueiredo na pista durante sua volta rápida. “Encontrei o Nonô mais lento na pista bem no miolo. Tive que contornar o “Bico de Pato” atrás dele e perder décimos importantes. Conferimos nosso trecho e eu poderia ter virado nesta volta 40s6 ou 40s7. Percebe-se que é bem mais a frente do que o 41s2 que eu virei antes”, disse Muffato chateado. Se realmente este tempo (40s6) fosse confirmado, David estaria largando entre o 12 primeiros. Para a prova ele espera pontuar. “Vamos mexer um pouco no carro e fazer uma corrida cabeça para pontuar. Precisamos muito marcar os pontos que não conquistamos em Campo Grande. Acredito que posso marcar meus primeiros pontos da a RC3 Bassani”, finalizou.

Thiago Medeiros não conseguiu garantir vaga no grid de largada por ter conquistado apenas o 42º melhor tempo. O estreante ficou feliz com o carro mais decepcionado consigo mesmo. “Tínhamos carro para largar tranquilamente nesta corrida. Mas faltou um pouco de mim. Não consegui combinar os meus melhores trechos em uma volta só. Gostei muito do trabalho da RC3 Bassani e espero fazer um trabalho muito melhor para a próxima etapa”, comentou. A próxima etapa acontece entre os dias 28 e 29 de julho em Londrina, Paraná.

Mais uma vez, alguns pilotos que garantiram vaga entre os 38 que largam, vão ficar de fora para ceder as suas vagas para pilotos “protegidos” pelo regulamento. Ficaram de fora da etapa de São Paulo: Jader David, Lico Kaselmodel e Daniel Landi. Eles foram substituídos por Chico Serra, Nonô Figueiredo e Guto Negrão.

A 4ª etapa do campeonato tem inicio as 12h50 com transmissão ao vivo pelo canal Sportv.

No treino matutino, David Muffato foi o 3º mais rápido. Já no treino da tarde, apenas a 21ª colocação



Nesta sexta-feira (15), em Interlagos, São Paulo, começaram os treinos para a 4ª etapa da Copa Nextel Stock Car. Como acontece desde a 1ª etapa, o paulista Tiago Camilo mais uma vez foi o mais rápido do dia. Até esta, que é a 4ª etapa, Tiago foi o mais rápido em todas as sextas-feiras, mas, curiosamente, ainda não marcou nenhuma pole position. A equipe RC3 Bassani, que agora conta com a dupla definitiva de pilotos – David Muffato e Thiago Medeiros – teve dois treinos bem distintos. No primeiro treino livre, Muffato foi o 3º mais rápido, já na segunda sessão do dia, foi apenas o 21º. “O treino foi bem produtivo pela manhã com o treino do Muffato. Estamos nos entrosando cada vez mais. Já com o Thiago, no 1º treino, estávamos-nos “conhecendo” na pista. Temos ainda que aprender como cada um trabalha”, disse Eduardo Bassani, engenheiro do time.



David Muffato ficou até surpreso com o resultado do seu 2º treino. Ele acredita que era para virar bem mais à frente do que a 21ª colocação se não fossem os pneus. “Foi incrível. Passamos um pneu melhor pela manhã e o resultado veio. Quando achávamos que íamos melhorar na ultima saída do treino da tarde, com pneus mais novos, simplesmente não virou. As reações do carro ficaram totalmente diferentes. Mas o carro está bem equilibrado e sem nenhum problema. Vamos analisar estes pneus de hoje e ver se vale a pena usa-los amanhã”, comentou o treino Muffato.



Thiago Medeiros, que está estreando pela RC3 Bassani, também gostou muito do seu primeiro dia. Os resultados no fim dos treinos não refletiam a atual situação do piloto. “No treino da manhã não conta muito porque eu estava conhecendo o carro do Bassani e a equipe. Fiquei mais tempo na pista para pegar quilometragem com o time. No treino da tarde, quando estava passando pneus melhores, recuei para os boxes para resolver um problema na asa traseira. Na minha ultima saída, quando poderíamos ver o que realmente podemos virar, quebrou o semi-eixo do carro. Mas estou gostando muito da equipe e trabalhar com o David (Muffato). Já aprendi muito neste primeiro dia”, disse Medeiros.



No treino pela manhã David Muffato marcou o terceiro tempo com 1min43s083. No treino da tarde, na 21ª colocação, seu tempo foi 1min43s492. Thiago Medeiros no 1º treino foi 43º com 1min44s840 e no da tarde foi 40º com 1min44s149.



Amanhã (sábado) será realizado o treino classificatório a partir das 10h50.

Campo Grande, 2 de Junho 07

Thiago Medeiros enfrentou dificuldades com o carro da OMNI WB neste sábado (2) em Campo Grande e terminou em 42º. Dessa forma, assim como aconteceu em Curitiba, o piloto não participará da corrida já que, pelas regras da categoria, apenas 38 pilotos têm vaga garantida no grid.

"Estou chateado por mais uma vez não disputar a corrida e também por não sabermos qual é o problema do carro. Durante todo o tempo de treino, tanto eu quanto a equipe trabalhamos duro tentando descobrir o que havia de errado, mas nada adiantou", lamentou o piloto de 24 anos.

“Pela primeira vez na minha carreira não melhorei um tempo depois de colocar compostos novos. Trabalhamos a classificação inteira em cima disso”, contou.

"Na etapa de São Paulo , o carro estava competitivo .Mas, nessa ocasião os pneus eram novidade e as equipes estavam se adaptando. Agora, há um grande equilíbrio na categoria. Espero que até a próxima corrida o problema já esteja resolvido", finalizou Medeiros.

A Copa Nextel StockCar 2007 terminou nesta quarta feira os seus testes coletivos antes da prova de abertura do Campeonato neste domingo dia 22 em Interlagos.

A categoria de maior sucesso no automobilismo brasileiro, a que mais atrai público, mais Patrocinadores reúne, mais veículos inscritos apresenta é aquela também que conta com os maiores nomes do Automobilismo nacional.

Basta uma rápida consulta à lista de inscritos que nos dois dias de testes (terça dia 17 e quarta dia 18) apresentou nada menos do que 50 pilotos.

Diversas estréias

Voltando a competir no Brasil depois de 4 anos de sucesso nos Estados Unidos onde venceu a Indy Pro Series estabelecendo todos os recordes da categoria e participou das 500 Milhas de Indianápolis, além de ter sido o pioneiro na categoria Silver Crown que usa monopostos de motor dianteiro com mais de 800Hp de potência.
“Estou muito contente de estar na Copa Nextel StockCar, o desafio é grande mas a satisfação é ainda maior, posso garantir” disse Thiago que mesmo sem ter realizado os testes de pré-temporada reservado aos “Estreantes na categoria” já está entre os 23 primeiros no grid com apenas 1,5 segundos de diferença para a pole position.

Back to his hometown in Brazil, Thiago Medeiros was invited to try one
of the
local 450HP StockCars.

He participated in the first test of the year for the Championship that
starts next Sunday at Interlagos in São Paulo.

"It was a completely new experience for me, to drive a car with a roof
on,
barely two hours after I arrived from the US in a 12 hour flight.
Everything
was new to me but the track (São Paulo's famous road course where the
F1 GP
is held every year) where I raced and won in my Formula Chevrolet and
F3
time. But evrything else is brand new, from the tires to the traffic on
the
track, 45 cars is a lot in a non-oval track."

Thiago worked with his team to get acclimatized to the car and in the
end,
even not using brand new tires he was able to get only 1.4 seconds away
from
the fastest driver, last year's 2nd placed in the Championship.

"Tomorrow we will concentrate on getting more speed out of new tires
and at
the same time workig on some new shock absorber's tests" Thiago said
over the
phone we we talked to him. "Oh, yes and we will also be deciding the
sponsors
we will be having, meanwhile we just go around in a pristine white
livery,
looking like Jim Hall's famous Chaparral, hope we are able to emulate
some of

One of the most dominant competitors in Indy Racing League Indy Pro Series history, Medeiros switched from rear-engine cars to those with the engine in front for 2006 (at least for most of the season), competing in the USAC Silver Crown Series – the second South American driver in history to race in the series. Kansas Climax

The beautiful 1,5 mile Kansas Speedway was the stage for the final
SilverCrown race of the 2006 season. It was also the opportunity for
the championship battle and the young hopefuls to perform in front of
the NASCAR circus.

"Buddy Kaeding and Brian Tyler are deciding the Championship but we
are all deciding our plans and investing in our future" said Thiago
Medeiros "and there is no better place than this beautiful track and
fantastic audience at both sides of the oval to do that"

The first and only test showed that the smooth and long Kansas
Speedway would be a challenge for the setup of the cars.

The tests
Both PDM Racing Cars the #26 of Aaron Pierce and #18 of Thiago
Medeiros, spent most of the allocated one hour time on Friday,
concerned about tire consumption and looking to have the cars better
suited for the long 100 mile race of Saturday. "We gain more working
with the solutions for the long race than looking just for speed in
two qualifying laps" said Thiago, that together with his chief
mechanic Jimmy Drinan managed to climb form 9th to 5th fastest by the
time of qualifying. "The 165mph plus lap of Thiago is a proof that we
are in the right direction," said Jimmy, before adding, "we have a
very constant car perfectly suited for the long race"

Another top 5 finish
Aaron Pierce won the battle for the second time in the year, repeating
his long oval victory in Chicago and showing that PDM is a strong
force to be recognized for next year's Championship. Thiago had a poor
start and dropped to 12th place "I still need to sort out better the
starting procedure" said the Brazilian in the end. But another
spirited drive, with some very straightforward overtaking on turn 1,
brought him to 4th place in the end. "I even managed to have a
fantastic battle with the crowned champion Buddy passed and opened
some distance to him but lost some time behind a back marker and was
overtaken again" completed Medeiros that raised more than one eyebrow
among the spectators.

The SilverCrown next year
After this first year under new rules, the Silver Crwon series proved
to be a welcomed contribution for what is already perceived as the
"NASCAR Package" that will give young drivers a very straightforward
break at the most successful form of Motor Racing in the World.

Iowa Speedway

The Iowa inaugural
The weekend of September 16/17 marked the
inaugurations of Iowa’s brand new Speedway. The Rusty
Wallace designed 7/8 of a mile banked oval received
USAC’s Midget, Sprint and Silver Crown cars for three
special races on Sunday.

Near 20,000 people attended the show on Sunday and saw
not only three very spectacular races but also very
fast ones. Both Midget and Sprint Cars bettered the
existing speed records, with the Sprint Cars having
the privilege to break the existing World speed
record.

For Thiago Medeiros, driving PDM’s Silver Crown Car
#18, it was also the maiden finish in his first year on
the series, after moving from IPS cars.

Troubled Saturday, competitive Sunday
Watching in disbelief a brand new engine seize in what
just the third installation lap on Saturday’s test
session, Thiago had to seat out of qualifying and
constricted to start 13th and last on Sunday’s race.

With just 30 of the 100 laps completed Thiago had
already moved up in the rankings to 7th place with
some thrilling overtaking on Iowa’s Turn 1. His stride
to the front continued and soon he was occupying 4th
place having demoted another three competitors always
using very well the top groove of the track. “It was
very exciting and funny, the track is so smooth and
fast and I was capable of passing all these cars using
the top part of turns 1 and 2 to my best advantage.”

show.

Up to 2nd overall
On lap 80 Thiago had moved to 2nd spot, after passing
both Pablo Danoso #91 and Peter Shepherd #99 and
profiting from the fact that his team mate Aaron
Pierce #26 had lost first place due to an electrical
failure. Thiago continued a strong run to the finish
line until lap 93 when the extra effort of climbing
from last place took its toll on his tires. “The car
became very difficult to control with both left hand
front and right hand rear tires loosing their
performance due to blisters. At the same time, I lost
some momentum when overtaking some back markers Brian
Taylor #21 and both Pablo and Peter went by. But I am
very happy with this 4th place and want to thank the
Team for their effort in changing the motor on
Saturday and giving me a car that helped me show my
form.” Completed cheerfully after the first checkered
flag that he sees after 4 races in the series.

Last race of the 2006 season scheduled for the Kansas
Speedway on September 30th is where Thiago hopes to
add a podium before embarking in the testing period
for next year’s season. “I want to be back in 2007 and
race on both Paved and Dirt tracks with the Silver
Crown, the car is awesome with its 800HP engine and no
aerodynamic devices to help, I am really happy and
excited to continue.”

Damage from Debris Ends Strong Run at ORP

USAC Silver Crown Series rookie Thiago Medeiros enjoyed his best performance to date during the J.D. Byrider 100 at O'Reilly Raceway Park, running as high as fifth before a cut tire forced him to retire midway through the race.

"I was catching my teammate (Aaron Pierce) in fourth and the race was going well," Thiago said. "Then Brian Tyler bumped Josh Wise, and debris from that accident flew back onto the track. I couldn't avoid it, and it cut the left-front tire."

Thiago, who started ninth after qualifying was cancelled due to rain, was classified seventh. It was a disappointing result for the 24-year-old Brazilian and the PDM Racing team, who had high hopes for a strong finish following a productive test at ORP earlier in the week.

"We were really unlucky that qualifying was rained out, because we had to start on practice times, and we'd had an oil leak in practice," Thiago said. "We fixed the problem, but when we weren't able to qualify and improve our starting position, it put us at a real disadvantage."

Thursday afternoon, Thiago will join NASCAR NEXTEL Cup series stars Tony Stewart and Elliott Sadler for an interview with Michael Young, who will be broadcasting live from O'Reilly Raceway Park prior to the J.D. Byrider 100.

Thiago Confident Following Productive Test at ORP

Thiago enters tomorrow's J.D. Byrider 100 at O'Reilly Raceway Park with renewed confidence following a successful test at the Indianapolis track earlier this week. The USAC Silver Crown series rookie was the fastest of the four drivers who participated in the test session, recording an unofficial best lap of 22.36 seconds.

"I ran a total of 110 laps and we were able to test everything we wanted to," Thiago said. "We knew we weren't going to have much time during the event because of the tight schedule, so the test should turn out to be a real advantage for us. We also fixed the problem that ended our day in Milwaukee, so we are very confident for the race tomorrow."
